MacroStudio is an independent product studio run out of Cardiff. The work sits deliberately across two disciplines that usually live in different buildings — interface & brand design and full-stack engineering.
That combination came the long way round. Years of running warehouse and manufacturing operations — at the kind of places where a broken process costs real money — turned into a way of thinking about software: systems first, then the surface.
In practice it means one person can hold the whole picture: the design token that keeps a fintech dashboard calm, and the Postgres schema underneath it, are decided together rather than negotiated across a handoff.
Recent builds lean privacy-first and self-hostable — from a collaborative document editor you can run yourself, to a Making-Tax-Digital app for small businesses. If it needs designing and building, it's the right kind of project.
